Lecture notes (scenario summary)

Albert decided to take lecture notes with BasKet because this way he has his notes in digital form right away. He has created one basket for the class. In a basket he creates a section for each new lecture, which in turn can have one or more pages.

In the five minutes he came sooner into the lecture room, he has time to prepare a section in the basket for this. He opens the BasKet window, creates a new section and names it after the today's lecture title and the current date.

The lecturer has already put the slides of today's lecture on the class's homepage, and Albert copies the file into the basket via drag'n'drop, where they are displayed page-by-page as the content of the basket section.

Now the lecture begins. Albert has a hard time understanding what the teacher is talking about, but finally he does understand it. He feels the need to write down the fact about he just understood in his own words so he can recall his understanding later. While listening on, he creates a new note (using the mouse) next to the place in the PDF file it applies to and writes down two sentences. From time to time this scheme repeats. Albert also makes per-page annotations which do not go into the way of the original PDF content. While writing and listening, he barely takes a look at the screen, but just writes down his annotations.

The notes he writes down range from helpful formulations by the teacher or himself, errors in the slides he or the teacher noticed, to additional information not already contained in the slides. Most of them just contain text, but some also contain formulas.

Albert can insert formulas by creating a formula note and entering the formula in a simple formula-language he has learnt by using the visual formula editor.

At one point, the teacher is asked a question about the meaning of a variable in a gravity equation. To make the answer clearer, he draws a diagram onto the chalkboard showing the impact of changing that variable. Albert finds the answer very helpful and decides to copy the diagram. He opens the drawing toolbar and starts drawing the diagram using straight lines for the scales and the free-form drawing tool for the curves which is enough to understand what is meant.

Later on, when Albert has to learn for the tests, he turns back to his notes. He prints out the lecture baskets so he has printed material along with the notes in a handy form.
